4 Months Old!!!

It's a Walk In the Park...

Hard to believe that Wesley turned 4 months this week!  While I guess I would be telling a story if I said it had really been a "walk in the park", but it sure has been awesome!  My father told me last week that during the first month, "I was really stressed!".  Well, I hope that I have calmed down a bit and gotten a little more used to the trials and tribulations of having a new baby.  We are certainly learning with every new day, enjoying Wesley more and more and realizing that each day is wonderful no matter how difficult or easy.

With 4 months of life, a few things are happening for Wesley...Ms. Sheila, our daycare provider, has enlisted our help to start "sleep training".  Until now, she has been giving special attention to Wesley since he is the youngest of the bunch and has allowed him "Sheila time" while the other kids nap.  He learned last week to sleep amongst the other children and follow a similar schedule.  We are also trying to teach him to fall asleep on his own and soothe himself if he wakes up.  It hasn't been the easiest process but Wesley has taken to it fairly well and we hope that this will translate into a longer nights' sleep for all of us.  Currently, Wesley goes to bed at 7 and gets up around 6am with one feeding in the night.  I have to admit I enjoy that time with him and don't really miss the sleep.  I am sure I complain about it but I know it won't be forever and I will really miss our time together once he grows out of it.  As far as the training is concerned, we aren't there yet but he's getting better at falling asleep on his own.

Wesley has been extremely outspoken in recent weeks.  He loves to coo and chatter and his favorite spot is on his changing table.  We will often hang out after getting a fresh diaper just "talking" back and forth.  He seems to repeat your sounds and reply to our noises.  While he is not saying anything that resembles a word, it is absolutely adorable and makes us smile.

On Friday we go for Wesley's 4 month check up.  I have been dreading this appointment since we scheduled it...he has to have several immunizations.  He was a real trooper at his 2 month appointment so I hope this one goes as well but it still isn't fun for anyone.  Will be glad when it is over!

The weather wasn't the best this weekend but we took advantage of a break in the rain to head to the neighborhood park...Wesley is still a little small for the swing and everything else for that matter but we made the best of it!

Almost big enough!

I LOVE MY DADDY!!!
Sunday Funday!

Pinkalicious

We Don't Discriminate...

We are not color blind and do realize this is PINK!  We have a lot of great friends who have been very generous with hand me downs in all shapes and sizes although we draw the line on pink clothing!  Wesley doesn't seem to mind his new/used saucer from his friend, Sarah Moore, and neither do Mom and Dad since she was so nice to give it to us.  We tried the saucer 2 weeks ago and his feet didn't quite hit the bottom so we put it away.  By today he had grown enought to reach and was able to enjoy it.  He doesn't quite know how it all works but to Daddy's dismay, the pink is very stimulating!!

This is just a photo too ridiculous not to share!  Wesley was caught by the camera being a wild man...

Beach Baby!

Living Up to My Name...

Like many others, we have been lucky to have a very mild winter.  Last weekend we decided to take advantage of the gorgeous sunshine and take Wesley for his first stroll on the beach.  Unfortunately, Daddy was the photographer so we don't have any photos of him with us.  Wesley seemed to enjoy the wind and waves so much so that he quickly fell asleep while I carried him in the Baby Bjorn.  He didn't wake up until we got back to the car where you can see his is a bit groggy.  We hope that he will nap this well at the beach once the real warm weather is here and we can have some fun, family time with our Beach Baby!

Little chilly so we bundled up!

After my nap...a little disoriented.

My First Babysitter!

My Own Date Night!

With a babysitter this pretty, anyone would understand why Wesley was so happy for Mommy and Daddy to have a night out!  This is McKenzie and we are lucky to have her; she is the daughter of Ms. Sheila who watches Wesley during the day.  It helped that she knows Wesley already and vice versa.  Needless to say, we had a very relaxing, enjoyable night out at one of our favorite dinner spots.  We came home to a sleeping baby snug in his crib!  Can't wait to do it again soon...neither can Wesley if he can have McKenzie all to himself!

Rolling...not quite over!

Meeting Milestones!

This week Wesley has figured out how to roll 1/2 way over.  He hasn't quite made it the full distance but is sure trying!  A few more toys for incentive may do the trick!

Won't You Be My Neighbor?!

Mr. Rogers

I couldn't help but take pictures of Wesley this morning because he looked so cute in his jeans and sweater.  We had been dressing him mostly in one piece oufits out of convenience in changing him, comfort for him and also because we have so many "on loan" from his cousins.  While the outfit below is still completely borrowed, it was a bit more exciting than the typical snap up suits he'd been wearing and made him look so much more like a baby boy instead of a newborn.  Our photo shoot turned a bit more comical when daddy said he looked like "Mr. Rogers".  So..."won't you be our neighbor?"
(You can't tell but Chris put "Vans" socks on him hoping it might increase the cool factor!)
I love my sweater!

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Happy Hour

Some Things Never Change...

While we fully realize that life as we knew it is just that...in the past and very different from our present day family life, we still enjoy ourselves!  It's just a little more subdued and with one more participant!  This was last Friday; Daddy had been in Mississippi all week so it was a celebratory happy hour.  We were very glad to have him home and looking forward to a weekend together.  Wesley was sacked out at first but like his mom, doesn't like to miss anything, so he woke up and joined the fun!

It was definitely 5 o'clock!

Don't forget about me!

Mr. Bubbles

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea!

Parenthood has had its challenges, one of which has been dealing with illness.  Unfortunately, Wesley has had acid reflux, bronchiolitis which is caused by RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) which he was positive for, then an ear infection all before he was 3 months old.  I am hoping he was just getting this all out of the way early!  Wesley seemed to handle  it a lot better than Mommy...he'd cough his poor head off and then look at you and smile.  So pathetic...a pretty helpless feeling for a parent-something we are experiencing for the first time.

As a result of his bad cough and bronchiolitis, he was prescribed breathing treatments with a nebulizer.  I am realizing this is very commonly prescribed for children but it doesn't make it any easier to administer his treatment.  It is a plastic mask in the shape of a fish head, aka "Mr. Bubbles" (according to the manufacturer of the machine) that you put up to his face once in the morning and once at night for about 10 minutes.  Most times he would sit back and relax although sometimes he would shake his head back and forth in frustration.  Daddy would call him "Stevie Wonder".  I know, not funny!  Anyway, we are very excited to say that Mr. Bubbles is now "20,000 leagues under the sea"!  We finished his last dosage this week and have a feeling that Wesley is probably more thrilled about this than his parents!
Being a good boy!

Mystery Solved

T.G.I.D (Thank Goodness It's Daddy)

One of the most common questions that we are asked is, "Who does Wesley look like?"  While I have an earlier post explaining that a few of his features are certainly from his dad (the eyelashes and dimple) and one not as glamorous (the ears) from his mom's side of the family, we never could really say who he "looks like".  UNTIL NOW!!!!  Chris' mother, Joan aka J.J., sent the below photo.  I am not exactly sure at what age this photo was taken but I for one can not get over how similar Wesley is to his Daddy!  It is a little more obvious in some photos than others but I have pulled a few photos of Wesley from the past few weeks for comparison below.  If you saw Wesley in person and then saw this photo, you wouldn't doubt who he belonged to...the pictures don't really do it justice.

I am very excited and relieved as I obviously think my husband is very handsome so for Wesley's sake, this is a great discovery!!!
